●学院位于石家庄市友谊南大街258号。环境幽雅，交通便利。学院占地面积258796平方米，拥有占地面积133400平方米的实训基地及省会大学生汽车驾驶培训中心以及位于天津市的航海校区。主体建筑有教学楼、综合实验大楼、图书馆、电化教学楼、礼堂、学生公寓、食堂等楼群，运动场建有400米标准跑道，学院图书馆藏书62万册，电化教学楼设有多个多媒体网络教室、多功能演播室、双向控制闭路电视教学系统和学术报告厅；路桥实验室的水文室、GPS卫星全球定位系统和汽车实验室的轿车检测仪、航海实验室的“雷达与ARPA模拟器”在同类学校实验设备中处于领先水平。
●学院始建于1949年，是交通部在全国最早创办的六所公路工程院校之一，是国家汽车运用与维修专业领域技能型紧缺人才培养培训基地之一。建校59年来为交通事业输送了四万余名各类专门人才。几年来，先后完成几十项交通部、铁道部、省交通厅和省教育厅立项的科研课题,多次派出专家、教授参与重大工程项目的技术咨询和科技攻关，取得了良好的社会信誉。学院现有全日制在校生7069名，学院师资力量雄厚，拥有一支治学严谨的“双师型”教师队伍。专任教师234人，具有博士、硕士学位37人，教授、副教授91人。
●学院派出专家、教授多次参与重大工程项目的技术咨询和科技攻关，主要有：北京地铁、上海地铁、深圳地铁、南京地铁、广州地铁、京沪高速公路、京九铁路、朔黄铁路、西安—南京铁路、宝兰铁路和青藏铁路等；为支援河北省公路建设，我院先后参加京石、石安、京沈、保津、石黄、京张、唐港、京沪高速公路工程建设监理工作，取得了良好的社会信誉。
●学院的学科建设依托水陆交通，兼顾其它行业，以理工科为主，文理兼办。设有八系两部：土木工程系、汽车工程系、运输管理系、交通工程系、航海技术系、轮机工程系、粮食工程系、经济管理系和基础教学部、成人教育部，开设46个专业，其中公路与桥梁、汽车运用工程专业是交通部首批命名的部级重点专业；公路与桥梁、汽车检测与维修、航海技术是省级教学改革试点专业；汽车运用工程专业是交通部首批命名的部级重点专业，该专业是中国-加拿大高中后职业技术教育交流专业，现采用的是加拿大-美国的“CBE”教学模式，在全国同类院校中率先实行了专业课模块教学。学院还开设南开大学和同济大学硕士研究生班、长安大学本科函授站、北京交通大学现代远程教育河北交通教学中心。2008年学院面向全国招生,主要招收高中起点专科生。学院坚持学生素质的教育和职业技能的培养，毕业生实行“多证制”，就业渠道宽，适应能力强。
Brief Introduction
Hebei Jiaotong Vocational and Technical College is a state-run fulltime college with the approval of the State Ministry of Education.
The college lies in No. 258 Youyi Street of Shijiazhuang. The campus is beautiful and the traffic is convenient. It covers an area of 258,796m2, with a 160,080 m2 practice and training base, a driving-training-center oriented to university and college students in Shijiazhuang and a branch in Tianjin city. In our campus, there are teaching buildings, a comprehensive experimental building, a library, a multi-media teaching building, an auditorium, students’ dormitory buildings and dining halls. And there is a standard stadium with 400m-tracks. In our library there are 640,000 volumes of books. In the multi-media teaching building, there are multi-media network classrooms, multi-functional broadcasting studios, bi-oriented controlled closed-circuit TV tutoring system and academic reporting halls. Some of our equipments take a leading place among the similar universities and colleges in our country, such as the hydrology room of the highway and bridge laboratory, the GPS (Global Position System), the car-measurer of the automobile laboratory, the“radar and ARPA simulators” of the navigation laboratory.
Our college was established in 1956. It was one of the six universities and colleges earliest established by the Ministry of Communications in the whole state. It is one of the bases which serve human resources in automobile application and repairing. We have sent out more than 40,000 specialized persons for the communications cause over the past 49 years. In the past few years, we have successfully finished dozens of scientific research tasks financed by the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Railways, the Provincial Traffic Office and the Provincial Education Office. We also sent out many experts and professors to solve some scientific problems in some important projects, whereupon we have made good social prestige. At present, there are 7069 full-time students in our college. We have a strong team of teachers; the number of full-time teachers is 219, among whom there are 37 teachers being of Ph.D. and Master degree and 91 professors and associate professors. All of our teachers are learnt and strict with their scholarly work. Some of them are both engineers and professors.
Our college mainly relies on science and engineering, and coherence to art. There are eight departments and two offices: Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Automobile Engineering, Department of Communications and Transportation Management, Department of Traffic Control, Department of Navigation Technology, Department of Turbine Engineering, with the Basic Teaching Office and the Adults’ Education Office. We serve 46 specialties. Among them, the highway and bridge specialty and the automobile application engineering specialty are key ones of ministerial level which are named by the Ministry of Communications for the first batch. And the highway and bridge construction specialty, the automobile application engineering technology specialty and navigation technology specialty are pilots of our provincial reform in education. The Automobile Application specialty is a key one of ministerial level that is named by the Ministry of Communications for the first batch. This specialty is an exchanging one between China and Canada after high school vocational and technical education, which adopts Canadian-American “CBE” teaching mode. And it has taken the lead in implementing the module teaching of the specialized course among similar universities and colleges. We also serve under-graduate courses attached to Nankai University and Tongji University, a part-time education of Chang’an University, and a modern remote-control education teaching center attached to Beijing Jiaotong University. In 2005, we will enroll new students orient towards 20 provinces and cities of the whole country. We adhere to students’ quality-oriented education and their cultivation of technical abilities. We implement “multi-certificate-system” towards graduates. So, we have wide employment channel and our graduates are all of string adaptive capacity.
